Abstract. Using a new effective action predicted from quantum gravity where the sign of the Euclidean Einstein action is reversed, we discuss Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) solutions in quantum cosmology and predict that this sign change might explain the origin of phantom scalars.
